Fiddlin' - It Takes a Husband

Here is a song I wrote for my daughter to sing at her wedding breakfast.

It Takes a Husband

(sing to the tune of It Takes a Woman from Hello Dolly)

Bride:
It takes a husband all sweaty and strong
To joyously mow all the grass in the lawn
And it takes an hombré with muscles giganté
And hard calloused fingers
For painting the hallway
Yes it takes a husband
A robust husband
A sweetheart, a partner, a man

Chorus of four others:
O yes it takes a husband
A sturdy husband
To bring you a lifetime that’s grand.

Bride:
The fine young fella who's constantly there
For scraping and sanding and priming the chair
And it takes a big male for building a table
And fixing the light switch
And cleaning the gables

All:
O yes it takes a husband
A robust husband
A sweetheart, a partner, a man
O yes it takes a husband
A sturdy husband
To bring you a lifetime that grand!

And so he'll work until infinity
Three cheers for masculinity

Rah Rah Rah...Rah Rah Rah

M. A. N. - I. T. Y

Bride:

M. A. N. I. T. Y?

Get out of here!

Bride:
And in the winter he'll shovel the ice
And then cook my breakfast because he’s so nice
He's a joy and treasure for practically speaking
To whom can you turn when the baby is leaking?

Chorus of four others:
To that robust husband
That sturdy husband
That sweetheart, that partner, that man

(That oh manly man)

O yes it takes a husband

Bride:
A tender husband

Chorus of four others:
To bring you a lifetime that grand!

All:
O yes it takes a husband
A robust husband
A sweetheart, a partner, a man
O yes it takes a husband
A sturdy husband
To bring you a lifetime that grand!
