Hollywood Goes to War - Not
I recently heard a comment that while we celebrate the Declaration of Independence on Independence Day, it was not the Declaration that is the reason for our country; it is the Continental Army. Without George Washington's desperate professional army of volunteers, independence would not have been possible.
Our military has a long tradition of being made up of volunteers. Since Hollywood is well known for it's support of the Armed Forces, I would like to recognize those actors that have set aside their careers to serve their country such as:
Well, actually, none of these actors left their careers to serve in the military, they just play soldiers with fake guns in the movies.
However, there was once a Hollywood where some of the biggest stars left their careers to serve their country. These included:
Douglas Fairbanks Jr.
