Obama: Father of ISIS
This is the month we celebrate American presidents, especially Abraham Lincoln (born February 12) and George Washington (born February 22).
George Washington is rightly acknowledged as "The Father of His Country". Washington's management of the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War is the main reason America exists today. We celebrate the signers of the Declaration of Independence as those responsible for the birth of America, but a bunch of lawyers signing a peace of paper would have meant very little had not Washington expertly avoided military defeat from a much more powerful British army.
No Washington, no America.
Washington now has a rival in a president who is responsible for the creation of a new nation. An easy argument can be made that Barack Obama is the reason ISIS exists today and here is why.
At the beginning of the Syrian civil war, the tyrant leader Bashar al-Assad was challenged by rebels friendly to the west. Obama refused to get involved. Remember the "don't cross the red line" warning that Obama backed down from? With al-Assad and the rebels distracted fighting each other, ISIS was able to create a base in Syria unchallenged.
Even worse, Obama messed up big time when he failed to sign a Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) with the Iraqi government to allow American troops to remain in Iraq, just as we left troops in Germany, Japan, Korea, and Croatia to help keep the peace. Leading military and national security advisors told the president it would be folly to pull troops out and allow players with anti-America interests to make mischief. Obama decided that politics was more important than national security. His left wing base would not stand for American soldiers staying behind where they might be killed and cause PR problems with a war weary American public. Obama wanted the credit for pulling the troops out of Iraq and ending the war.
What he ends up getting credit for is being "The Father of ISIS".
Sadly, America will probably have to send troops back to clean up the mess that should never have happened.
